Common names:  Blue, Snapper, Chopper

General: The bluefish is a popular marine game fish that can be found in the Atlantic Ocean from Nova Scotia to the southern tip of South America. Predatory and very voracious the bluefish is fierce and usually hungry. Words cannot describe the basic savagery of bluefish on a feeding frenzy; maiming or killing all other creatures in their path, including their own kind. Equipped with a formidable set of teeth that they use from the time they’re a tiny snapper until they’re full grown, bluefish can reduce their prey down to pieces with a few bites. Although the largest bluefish weighted in at 45lbs, most are from 2-15lbs. When hooked the ensuing battle is remarkable and may include everything from head shaking jumps to long powerful  runs. Quite naturally, the qualities of the blue make it an ideal sport fish.
